10th Annual Pie & Ice Cream Social
Description
The Smoky Valley Arts & Folklife Center invites all to celebrate a sweet milestone at the 10th Annual Pie & Ice Cream Social Fundraiser on Friday, July 10, 8:00 to 9:30pm on the front lawn of the Red Barn Studio Museum, 212 S. Main Street in Lindsborg. In the event of rain, the celebration will move indoors to SVAFC at 114½ S. Main Street.
What began as a simple community gathering has grown into one of SVAFC’s most beloved annual traditions and largest fundraisers. For ten years, neighbors, friends, and visitors have gathered to share homemade pies, enjoy live music, celebrate local artists, and support arts programming in the Smoky Valley. Funds raised through the event help support SVAFC’s exhibitions, workshops, and community arts programming throughout the year.
The evening will feature live music, a pie-baking contest, an artist reception for Red Barn Studio Musum’s Artist-in-Residence Laura Baker, homemade ice cream, and, of course, plenty of pie.
Community members are encouraged to bring a homemade pie to share. Anyone who donates a pie will receive tickets redeemable for two slices of pie and two scoops of homemade ice cream. Additional pie and ice cream will be available for purchase, with pie priced at $7 per slice and ice cream at $3 per scoop.
Bakers looking to show off their skills can enter the annual pie contest for a $5 entry fee. Contest participants will compete for a cash grand prize, with pies judged on presentation, crust quality, filling, and overall flavor. Contest pies and entry forms must be submitted on July 10 at 3:00pm, with judging beginning at 5:00pm. Winners will be announced during the Pie Social. Entry form found here.
