Proposal Summary
The Inman Chamber is replacing the current street banners located on the light poles on Main Street. These banners have become worn from the many years of use and cannot be repaired. We will be purchasing new banners to fit the same specs as the original to limit the cost of this project. The grant funds will be used to purchase 2 sets (25 each) of banners that will allow the town to change these out during the year. The Chamber will work with local companies to provide the banners and are also looking to use the local art students to help with the creation of the banner design. The new banners will help update the appearance that people first get when coming into Inman.
Community Impact & Accomplishments To-Date
There will be no great way to measure the impact of this project on our county. The way that we hope this provides a measurable impact is by our business owners and our city itself in continuing our efforts in revitalizing our town’s appearance. We all have been to those small towns that when you drive leave you find yourself telling others about how pretty their downtown was or how clean and neat the town was. Our hope is that is what people will continue to be able to say about Inman after visiting and with that it can continue to bring more and more visitors because of this.
Why do you think this project is necessary?
The Inman Chamber feels that the first impression that people get as they come into our town is very important. This first impression primarily comes from the appearance that a town’s main street gives off. The chamber has worked with our local businesses to help them give a good first impression. We have given “beautification grants” through the years to help offset some of these costs to improve their appearance. However, by doing this it has limited our funds to put towards the updating of our street banners. The chamber purchased banners that we have used for the last 10 years. During this time these banners have become worn to the point that the appearance that they give is no longer a positive one for people coming to our town. The new banners will update our Main Street and be designed to give the appearance we want Inman to show.
Collaborative Partners
We will be collaborating with various local businesses to purchase and design the banners. We have also discussed our ideas with the Inman High School art department to gauge their interest in helping with the design aspect of this endeavor.
